Mix – a set of tracks put together using any mixing technique (beatmatch, drop, FX, filter, echo, whatever) to produce a fluent and non-interrupted musical story.
Mixtape – a mix recorded to some kind of media (in the old days tape, nowadays CD, USB or any other digital format) intended to introduce yourself, your musical style and your technical aptitude to interested parties, like event organisers, venue owners/managers and key fans/opinion leaders. It’s a promotional tool.
Set – The entire make-up of a DJ performance, containing all played tracks. Clearly mixed or transitioned to provide continues music to the audience and/or interlaced with microphone use (sometimes handy to make big jumps in genres for example). A set can consist of various (mini)mixes put together for example.
